This Euro 5 engine has replaced the 1198cc Euro 4 engine in 2012. Internally it is basically the same engine just with some small differences such as the piston compression bowl diameter and new oil pump design.

With this engine being used so widely in all sorts of makes and models it is inevitable that we see a lot of these engine types pass through our workshop and so we are very familiar with them. There is a solution to this as the pump can be removed and replaced for an older style oil pump, with some modification, these are bullet proof so to speak and is something we always do when reconditioning these Ford engines. The other issue we seem to see over again is pistons failure, now this can be holes in the pistons or melted pistons. This is not actually the piston itself but the fuel injectors that cause this problem. The only way to really solve this is to look after your vehicle and be sure to get your injectors tested or even replaced at certain times, especially after you have had an engine reconditioned.

These particular engines in our opinion are actually pretty good in comparison to many others and have the added benefit of having good quality parts readily available at a very competitive prices making it easier to and cheaper to fix and replace faulty parts or of course perform a recondition. Like all engines these 2.2 TDCI Ford Transit engines do need to be serviced properly at regular intervals. This particular listing excludes Vat. A full Vat invoice will be supplied.

Unless stated otherwise all of our reconditioned engines come TIMED with a new timing chain / belt, it is important this is not tampered with, doing so could result in engine failure. Engine Swap do not accept any sequential loss such as van hire or loss of earnings. In the event of an engine failure we would require the third party to remove the engine from the vehicle ONLY!

Do not strip the engine! Once removed Engine Swap will organise collection, diagnose the issue(s), and aim to return the engine repaired or alternatively send a reconditioned engine. All of our reconditioned engines come sealed in clear shrink wrap it is vital that the engine checked for damage before you sign to state you have received and are happy with the goods. We strongly advise that before fitting any reconditioned engine ALL the ancillary components must be checked and thoroughly cleaned.

Check the turbo and get the fuel injectors tested by properly by a diesel specialist. If metal has previously passed through the engine Engine Swap strongly recommend replacing the oil cooler. As a precaution Engine Swap urge an oil and oil filter change within the first 500 miles of use. We would also propose keeping the RPM below 3000 to allow the engine parts to be embedded.
